Pitcher plants are one of my favorite subjects. The use of a long lens plus extension combined with selective focus softens the colors and causes the background to blur. I print my images on fine art paper or canvas. My goal is to make the image look like a painting. If a viewer has to ask "Is this a painting or a photograph" then I know I've achieved my goal.
Most images were taken within the Buttercup Flats area of the De Soto National Forest in South Mississippi. It is a vast pitcher plant savanna.
